Our objective here is to supports Communications and the Dissemination of information on activities of the Support Action and the AORA to the AORA and Support Action partners and to the wider North American Atlantic Research Community including research policy makers and funders, researchers and research institutes (including the education sector), major regional and pan-European research networks, and including industry and Non-governmental organisation representatives
This includes the development and implementation of a communications strategy, establishment of the Support Action website and social media means to serve the needs of the Atlantic Ocean Research Alliance, to disseminate information on the AORA Cooperation Areas and todisseminate outputs of the Coordination & Support Action , and branding as well as the representation of the Support Action at major European and North American Marine Scientific Fora.
This work package is led by Dr. Peter Heffernan, CEO of the Marine Institute Ireland and an instigator of the Galway Conference “ The Atlantic – A Shared Resource ” (May 2013) which resulted in the Galway Statement on trans-Atlantic Research Cooperation and the establishment of the Canadian-EU-USA Atlantic Ocean Research Alliance. Dr. Margaret Rae and Ms. Patricia Killian make up the Secretariat directing the Coordination Support Action on a daily basis. Dr. Rae has over 20 years’ experience in different organisations, project management has been a significant feature in her experience; seven years of which were spent in the Irish Beaufort Marine Biodiscovery Research Programme. Ms. Killian has a wealth of experience in public administration, organisation of events and dissemination of information.
Dr. Heffernan has overall responsibility for the successful delivery of the Coordination & Support Action working with the Action Secretariat and the Action Work Package Leaders that constitute the Action Management Team.
